Subject Tutoring
Test Prep
College Applications
K-12 English Language Arts
Through ELA tutoring, my students develop an appreciation and love of literature. I recommend diverse books and genres, and I give students choices about what they want to read and study. I coach students to improve their writing through a sequence of straightforward writing assignments. Students are able to build their written and verbal communication skills.
K-8 Mathematics
In math tutoring, I work with elementary and middle school students on foundational mathematics skills. I have creative methods to reinforce and automate basic skills, and I build students’ study habits.
Test Prep
Test prep is available for undergraduate and graduate US college admissions tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, and TOEFL; and for private school/magnet school admissions tests. I assign practice tests, identify weaknesses, and teach concepts. I also help students identify and practice strategies that increase their speed and accuracy.
College Applications
In college application support, I monitor student progress and advise families. Application supports include generating and narrowing down a college list; help with brainstorming, crafting, and editing essays; reviewing and reorganizing the activity list; interview preparation; and showcasing an applicant’s persona so that they stand out to admissions officers.
